Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst will assist in the analysis, planning and execution of M&A, Corporate Development & Investor Relations initiatives. This is a great opportunity to flex your analytical horsepower and transaction experience to help execute a growing medical device company’s strategic plan. As a key member of our dynamic and active Corporate Development team, you will lead analysis and conduct due diligence with cross-functional teams leading to proposals for executives on inorganic and material organic business initiatives. You will also support select activities related to the review and assessment of new technologies for the company, whether strategically targeted or surgeon initiated, and provide support for the many facets of investor relations including competitive intelligence, earnings models, and press releases. 

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates, assesses and quantifies the value of M&A, investment and corporate development opportunities – prepares business cases, builds financial models, and highlights risks and opportunities
  • Performs robust qualitative and quantitative analysis to determine various financial aspects of potential investments, including pro forma modeling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, discounted cash flow, accretion/dilution analysis, comparable company and precedent acquisition analyses
  • Supports senior Corporate Development team members in driving internal cross‐functional deal team towards successful evaluation, analysis, execution, and integration of targets and partners
  • Analyzes and synthesizes key data elements to support proposals aligned to company goals
  • Coordinates and executes the due diligence process, compiles and analyzes information and provides opinions about investment or partnering opportunities
  • Assists in the management of external innovation opportunities through the IDEA review process, convening meetings, presents data and maintains the new idea tracking system
  • Serves as a point of contact for all new ideas, interfaces with surgeons and/or other idea sources, professional affairs, and product development to gather all relevant information and understand the idea or opportunity
  • Engages IP & Regulatory teams in the assessment of new technology with discrete intellectual property
  • Supports company activities at professional meetings as it relates to interfacing with the investment community and/or opportunities for external innovation, surgeon or corporate
  • Regularly monitors, reads, and summarizes relevant sell side analyst reports, competitor press releases, and earnings call transcripts
  • Develops and maintains competitive analysis as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
  • Strong quantitative skills, financial acumen, financial modeling, and valuation competencies
  • Outstanding professional & personal maturity
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and lead M&A due diligence activities
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills, with ability to extract “big picture” conclusions & implications from the detail and identify action required
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering exceptional work product
  • Demonstrates ability to participate in creating strategic initiatives
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic project environment, with a strong project management & planning capability
  • Strong Excel, analytical, financial, and quantitative skills
  • Strong ability to work independently, multi-task and respond to requests in timely manner
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
  • Prior experience in finance, consulting or investment banking preferred
  • Healthcare or medical device experience not required but a definite plus
  • Engineering background a plus
