Position Summary:

The role of the Clinical Documentation Specialist is to facilitate and evaluate incoming donor records for accuracy, completeness and report the outcome with recommendation.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assembling and reviewing medical and agency records for timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of data
  • Organizing and maintaining data for databases and logs; Maintaining filing system accordingly; tracking Donor Charts outcomes for quality assessment
  • Electronically record data for collection, storage, analysis, retrieval, and reporting
  • Interacting with outside agencies to complete medical chart as required
  • Protecting patient’s health information for confidentiality, authorized access for treatment and data security
  • Organizing and evaluating patient medical records and agency documentation for a QA and Medical Director Review. Reporting to a supervisor or manager for final decision
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used medical terminology, concepts, practices and procedures within the medical field.
  • Relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Working after regular hours, on-call scheduling including weekends and holidays is required
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Ensuring Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Representing the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties of Globus

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Requires an associate's degree in medical discipline or its equivalent with 2+ years of experience in the medical field or related area.  Prefer EMS, LPN, LVN or medical Unit clerk
  • Requires an extensive knowledge of medical terminology, guidelines and regulations; read and understand the content of the medical record and the significance of disease processes and physiology of the patient. Identify the areas of documentation needing further clarification, to improve process flow, document trends by recovery agency, and ancillary services for future in-service sessions, to ensure proper revision of problematic processes, forms, etc.; Quality Control
  • Must have basic computer knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Demonstrates organizational skills with the ability to multitask and attention to detail
  • This job requires the individual to be a team player with the ability to function well in a challenging, fast paced environment
  • Must have valid driver’s license and dependable transportation

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
